holds the melbourne museum of printing (letterpress type of thing). i went there to get some brownie points from my uni lecturer. the museum itself was pretty interesting, found out how all the old publications were arranged, printed, etc. had the option of getting my own slug of type made up but funds persisted.

footscray itself is pretty daunting. bums were seen passed out in the middle of the streets, same with some guy being attended to by medics. pretty crazy!

rhys and myself made a bried stop down at the st.kilda foreshore before we set off to rampfest.
i'm pretty stoked on this photo that i took. it's for a part of my photography subject at uni.

we then arrived at rampfest in footscray. one word; intense.
the whole layout is absolutely huge, and quite intimidating. we had heaps of fun in the foam pit, and trying out the resi ramps, although i did manage to slice my elbow open slightly from a tailwhip attempt gone wrong. even in foam pits you can draw blood.

there is no point venturing further than what's necessary when you've got a playground only 15 odd minutes away. on the weekend, i rode my bmx bike on the big wooden banks, and concrete ledges that is the st.kilda foreshore. it was great fun.

sail boards make great launch ramps when propped up agaisnt a flimsy brick ledge.

i took a cliche'd photo of the face of luna park for a subject at university.

later in the weekend, i felt the need for exercise and re-visited st.kilda, but this time on a different bike.

the gravel was really fun to slide around on.

Shelley now worships Jah, doesn't smoke ciggarettes, nor drinks coffee or alcohol, and has a balanced, ital diet.

However, I do drink coffee. I make a mean cappucino.

I had a huge (3 hour) break between classes at uni, so I went for a walk through the park.

...And also read some magazines.

I took some photos of my bike.

Today (Friday), we rode the St. Kilda area again. There was a big truck stuck in the sand and all the workmen were digging out around the tyres, and a Land Rover was trying to pull it out. The chain snapped once, and all the men were arking up.

I ended up hopping over this concrete ledge.

St. Kilda, I love you.

so i rode from prahran into the city to buy a seat with a purple and blue wolf printed on it, then proceeded to ride home to bayside.

james came home from uni and we decided to go and ride our bikes up at st. kilda along the new waterfront. it rained and was so slippery, james takes full advantage of the moist weather and skids for yonks and yonks.

i'm quite a fan of the wooden wedge/bank.

the sun started to go down, so we got our last skids in.

then went down the street where james bought some more nag champa.

Dr. Dre just finished building up his conversion, so we decided what better way to celebrate than taking it for it's maiden ride, along the bumpy bike path to saint of kilda.

i had a stick of nag champa lodged into my knog. it left a nice scent behind me, and around me when i was just crusing along at a snails pace.

and again. james got some trampoline ice-cream as 7 apples is still closed, but will be re-opening in the summer months.

it started drizzling a bit, so we bailed and raced back our way with the wind behind us. we saw a rainbow.

luigi came round and we set off to safeway to purchase ingrediants for our gourmet chicken burgers.

we had some bread and olive oil as an entree. this oil is my own concoction, it included lemon peel, pepper, and rosemary.

shell's is always keen on some grab. too bad buddy, you're on a diet.

watched some of the olympics on the tv.

then baked some muffins. there wasn't enough choc chips in them so we mashed up some top deck and tossed them in the mix. result; some chunky, and hella chocolatey muffins. dope!

I got a new rug for my room. I decided that it was just way too boring with nothing on the floor, just a huge sea of polished floor boards. I gave my retreat a good ol' clean as well. The only downside to having polished floors is that they get real dusty, real fast, and the dust is really obvious.

Dust stinks, so what better way to get rid of it with the delightful scent of Nag Champa (only insense i'll ever burn. Fact).

Ben Lewis Luc-E to 180 sequence is probably my favourite, and therefore it deserves a place on my wall.

I've been eating these sambo's a bit lately, only after re-discovering we've got a toasted sambo thing in the closet.
1. get 6 pieces of white bread, lay them all out, apply thin layer of marge and/or butter.
2. apply slices of cheese (tasty for me). i don't like mine oozing with cheese, so i tread lightly.
3. whip out some salami/pepperoni, only the 'hot' kind of course, and spread across the cheese.
4. proceed to chop up some tomato slices and allocate them across the pepperoni.
5. flip the bread over to contain your sambo, and i like to spread another small layer of marge across the top to get increased crunchiness and texture on the bread after toasting.
6. put your 3 sambo's on the toaster/grill.
7. press the sambo's down equally with the top half of the toaster, and wait for 3-4 minutes.
8. place on plate with rosemary, mandarine, and glass of water, and enjoy!

not too much has been going down as of late, just lazing around in the last few weeks of my holidays (seriously, 10 weeks off is too much time. you think, 'hell yeah, these holidays are going to be sweet!' which they are, don't get me wrong, but at around 5-6 weeks you run low on the 'things to do list'). i've also got a legit cold, so i'm using that as an excuse to watch all my favourite movies, clock old nintento 64 games, and wake up half an hour short of mid-day.

i will get back into the swing of things soon, hopefully, maybe, probably. but until then, i'll leave you with a picture.

oh, and who wants to buy a samsung E840 mobile phone?

$1 'nuts from our friends at 711. I can say that is is possibly one of the greatest deals of all time, and I speak from experience when I say that $3 worth will fill you up very nicely. I even contemplated buying four and saving one for breakfast. They do need to load up on the jam though, there was only a tiny pouch of jam in my chocolate frosted jammie, and I happen to have found it in the very first bite, leaving me with a jamless hunk of dough.

I think this deal is up there with the Snack Box, and the 2-for-1 Whoppers for $4.50 or so...Opinions?

Lasted 25 days (About 3 weeks and a bit).
Once these grips were on, they felt pretty good. I don't mind a bit of a chunkier grip, and these were certainly that. Way bigger than my old Mutinys, in fatness and length. These grips have caused a bit of a fuss in the BMx world, and I can see why. First off, they throttled like no other grip I've run. I doubt it was the way I put them on, because all my other grips stay fine with the WD40 method. The little keys on the grips started ripping on my first ride with them, by the end of the 25 days I lost a couple keys, and they started developing into holes, which the throttling didn't help. They felt good for the first hour or so riding them, but that's it, everything else was very much a let down.

Comfort: 6/10
Durability: 3/10

GTKYG; Mutiny Handjobs

So I've decided to review all the pairs of grips that I seem to chew through every couple weeks, highlighting the pro's and con's of these pieces of rubber that we grip with our hands, on our BMX bicycles.

Mutiny Handjobs.

Lasted about 10 weeks, which is very decent.
I really liked these grips, they didn't take very long to break-in, and once they were worn a tad, they felt truely awesome. The little ridges/lines that make up the grip tore off pretty easilly, and at about the 5 week mark I switched them up, so LHS of the right, vice versa. Once all the lines/ridges ripped off, the grip was still decent even though they were bare. Sadly, I ripped a huge hole in them one night, which had been developing over a couple days. So 10 weeks owned, probably about 25+ rides, pretty decent figures!

Comfort: 9/10
Durability: 7/10

I got a new car. Totally stoked on it, great condition inside and out, runs fantastic, low km's for it's make and model, great price, and the previous owner is a car-nut (even better, a VW nut), so we know that it was in good hands. What makes it even more interesting, is that in the service log, the original owner used to live about 5 minutes drive from where I live in Melb.
Only downside to this car, was that it was located in NSW.
So, I went to the airport on Saturday morning.

Bit of reading to pass the 1.5 hours on the plane. Top Gear ended up being more interesting.

Dad and I arrive at some motel at about 12am, in bloody Goulburn.

The VR6 on a foggy Sunday morning at about 7am, about to commence a days driving. Could so drag the WRX next to it.

Only 168km's to Melbs. Driving for so long is boring, lucky Dad and I switched it up evey now and then.

I got a new bike on the weekend; KHS Flite 100 fixed-gear. It's awesome radical fun to ride, except I'm still learning the basics in regards to stopping fast, without hitting a car. I need to trim up my steerer, and maybe paint it sometime down the track (no pun intended).
I rode it to uni today.

Uni is fun. We love sub o' the day, and free fries.

I revisited an old spot with a friend after uni. We had a scope, a ride, and a nice big chat to catch up. Some kids have re-built Toms' old jumps, they're still haggard as hell, and gnarly to boot but I managed to get through them 3rd shot, shit yeah I'm the best.

I need a haircut, sooner rather than later.

Brakeless ghetto trails is scary, and difficult at times.

Nothing special is really going down these days. Just been doing the same day in, day out; wake up, go to uni, come home, do stuff, sleep. I wanted to take a bunch of photos today but I never got round to it, so you'll have to settle for this one of Prahran that I took earlier whilst thinking "oh shit! blog!".

home alone on a tuesday

Decided that I'd document my ordinary tuesday, just to see how entertaining it is for others.

First things first, jumped out onto the balcony when I woke up to check out the weather, it was pretty hot.

Went downstairs to feed the animals, crystal the cat absolutely loves this time of day, and is always seen eagerly awaiting someone to open the door for her.

Quickly logged onto the PC, I had to log-in to the Swinburne uni site as I had an online studio session which is basically just a forum about the lecture the day before.

Cat food is possibly one of the tastiest looking substances on earth.

After the two-hour computer session I decided to spot-paint a few bits on this new piece that's in the works. watch this spot! I wasn't feeling too hungry so I decided it was a good oppourtunity to go for a stroll with shelley the dog. she was pretty stoked by it all.

As I said earlier, it was pretty hot outside so I had to dress for the occasion.

We had a pretty fun time down at the beach, shelley was sniffing round as usual.

Finally got home and had to fix some issues with my BMX. Loose chains are so annoying.

Got around to having some lunch. Fantastic Chicken noodles and water went down a treat.

Then I had to drive over to Beaumaris to sign some papers for work. Don't really recommend taking photos whilst drving. You'll either crash, or some random person will think you're conducting surveillance and probably get angry.

Came home from my drive and watched a bit of basement sessions. Just bludged the time away as I was waiting for Rhys.

Rhys arrived and we went for a ride down Southland way. We did some sweet stunts, ate some KF, talked a bunch, and yeah. Forgot to take my camera so no shots for y'all, however I did get this snap of the big fella when we got back to mine.

Rhys gave me some Focalpoint stickers.

Spoke on the phone to Lou, didn't know how I'd document it so I took a snap of myself, on the phone.Finished off some typography work for university.

Was pretty tired by the end of this, so I decided to hit the sack...after a bit of light reading though.

And that's what consisted of my regualr tuesday. How awesome.
